PRACTITIONER'S CORNER Marcia Beebe, RScP
August, as we know, is a Summer month. Did you know the name August, comes from Augustus, the Roman emperor?
This August, at PVCRS the focus is on Miracles and miracles we have experienced.
My finding Ernest Holmes and Science of Mind have been a miracle for me and have changed my life by giving me the gift of conscious knowledge. Thanks to the textbook and classes, with wonderful ministers and encouraging and supportive classmates, I know I am at choice in every area of my life. I take full responsibility for all my decisions and choices. Wow! That is not always pleasant or easy, but I am so grateful to God that conscious beings, you and me, are made this way.
August is also special for me, because my mother and my husband, James, were born in August, only six days apart.
James is a walking miracle. He "died" in 1990; flat lined, left his body, saw the Light and It told him he couldn't stay, he had to go back. In 2003, he almost died again. Nothing as dramatic as in 1990, but just as scary. Here we are in 2005, and for the past six months he has struggled with his body on the edge of giving out. With absolute determination and Divine Love he made a conscious decision to live. Having severe asthma and bronchospasms, every breath is a struggle; a gift; a miracle. The thing that is so remarkable about my husband is he gets up every morning and smiles while gasping for breath. He is one of the bravest people I know and his being alive is a miracle.
You may be wondering why I've told you about my husband. It is because I believe I chose to be with him. Accepting full responsibility, I accept that I also chose my parents.
Part of who I am and how I interact with people is based on the choices I made as a child. I know I can make other choices and through treatment and loving support, I am working on different choices. Knowing that I can change my choices and my behavior, and so my life, is a miracle that Ernest Holmes, through the Science of Mind, has given me and continues to give me every day.
My birth family and my husband are important parts of my life choices and my spiritual path. Who is in your family?
When I think of family, I think of God. God being all there is, is in, around and through each of us. As Ernest Holmes said, "We live, move and have our being… in God." Since that is so, then we are all family. We are interrelated and Divinely Loved.
Knowing that every second of life is precious and by its very nature a miracle for each of us, and is also someone else's birthday in some part of the world, in love and joy I wish you a miraculous life filled laughter, love, joy and wonder.
Namaste, Marcia
