Pastor's Pen October, 2004 Rev. Patrick Gegan October is a time of new beginnings and excitement at PVCRS. New beginnings: Science of Mind classes are once again being offered, but this time in both day and evening sessions. Excitement: we have officially entered into the holiday season with the advent of our Annual Auction on October 2nd. As you read this newsletter, our single largest fundraiser has already concluded, and we give thanks for the many hands and hearts that helped to make it a roaring success. We are especially pleased to offer Science of Mind Classes again. The Sunday experience is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to mind-opening, life enhancing experiences. There is just no way to present the depth and breadth of spiritual insight and development available through this teaching in the half-hour Sunday lesson. Weekly services are great for a shot in the arm of positive possibility thinking and socialization with like minds, but the power of this teaching really finds its home in your life when you devote the time to attend study groups. Those who have taken classes will agree: the Science of Mind classroom is where we learn to internalize the teaching and move from the realm of belief to embodiment, from doubt to demonstration, from wishing-wanting-waiting to doing-having-being. This is both the premise and the promise of Science of Mind: What Mind can conceive, Mind can achieve. What type of person is best suited to this teaching? What type of person are you? Science of Mind is both a religion and a philosophy, but more importantly it is a way of life that leads to greater health, love, joy and harmony. Does this appeal to you? If so, then this is a teaching for you. No matter what your background or belief, the only requirement for this teaching is a sincere desire for more good in your life and the willingness to become the person you were meant to be. To demonstrate the flexibility and adaptability of this teaching to any walk of life, this month's Sunday Service theme is ‘All Roads Lead to God’. Each person has a unique approach to life based on individual experiences, beliefs and attitudes. No one approach to life could satisfy all types. Each Sunday we will explore a different aspect of the ‘Spiritual Path’The Path of Knowledge, The Path of Practice, The Path of Devotion and The Path of Service. The series will conclude on October 31st with ‘The Only Path There Is’. My promise to you is this: you will leave this month with a greater appreciation of the miracle that you are and the path for which you were born. With love and respect, Rev. Patrick
